GET CREATIVE - STAGE 2 - FOR BEGINNERS AND IMPROVERS

This course is a natural progression from the Beginners Starter Course (Stage 1) and for beginners with some knowledge and improvers.

Start by acquiring confidence and learn how "to interpret". Understand the power of the brush. You learn Fine Art Composition. (There are two types of composition - "Fine Art" and "Decorative"). All will be explained!

Understand tonal Values - create a tonal "working" drawing in charcoal and then paint your drawing in three tones. Learn the professional materials to use, how to 'draw out' and how to get the best out of Professional acrylic paints. (You can also paint in oils on the 2nd Day). (Subject to some prior use and knowledge of oils).

Concentration is on 'Harmonious' complex composition. Working (tonal) drawings and great paint techniques WITH ALL YOUR PROFESSIONAL ART MATERIALS PROVIDED. Lunch and take away tuition manuals. Even if you have been painting for a while, most students say they have learnt more in one hour on this course than years of art classes. (One student said she'd learnt more on this course than 2 years at a renowned Art College).

We like to think that at the end of the weekend you will have all the skills to paint absolutely anything with confidence.

5) Acrylic on the 1st day and the choice of acrylics or oils on 2nd day (if you have some prior knowledge of oils).

1.0-1.30PM Lunch break

1.30pm We instruct you on the essentials of great painting. fine art composition, tonal values and focal points. With examples from famous artists.

Painting created from a working 'tonal' drawing

2.30pm Turn your working drawing into a painting - using three tones. Dark medium and light.

3.30pm Discussion about your desired subjects for painting the next day. Because we want to encourage the artist in you and not just 'take you through the motions' we want you to chose the subjects you want to paint. Painting is all about passion, what you want to say and how you want to say it. So now you decide what you want to paint. You may even have a painter whose style you want to emulate. There is nothing wrong with that because you will eventually discover your own style. Bring a photograph with you of the scene/image you want to paint. If you don't have any idea of what you want to paint, we can set up a still life in the Studio for you. Prepare your LARGE canvas for tomorrow.

More advanced students will create their own composition with the skills learnt.

4.00pm Day ends.
